Atomic Fossils
With Dr. Ranger Lauren Parry
Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument
Explore how atomic science transformed our understanding of time and the geologic past.
In the 1940s, atomic scientist Dr. Willard Libby revolutionized dating techniques by developing radiocarbon dating—earning a Nobel Prize in 1960. Tule Springs in the Las Vegas Valley became a key site in testing this method, turning the area into a living laboratory for geologic discovery.
Learn how this breakthrough continues to reshape how we interpret ancient history and how new technology reframes our view of the past.
