Meet Author Bruce W. Church
When: Saturday, March 11, 1 PM – 3 PM
Where: The Atomic Museum | 755 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89119
The Fallout Story takes you through the author’s first-hand experiences in the early days of nuclear weapons testing, and the resulting fallout. This book will discuss the measurements gathered from these tests, and their subsequent effects on the health and safety of the areas around the Nevada Test Site in Utah, Southern Nevada, and other locations.
Bruce W. Church has put together a wonderful book that documents his life and involvement in fallout produced by atomic bomb testing around the world. He has had unique experiences with fallout starting in his youth as a downwinder in southern Utah with a complete description of the fallout event, Dirty Harry, which contaminated his hometown. He follows with his lifetime investment working and documenting fallout events and interactions at all levels of government.
I wholeheartedly endorse reading this book written by SARIan Bruce Church (published in paperback in 2022). Bruce was personally involved with collection of radioecological data at the Nevada Test Site and areas “downwind” of the NTS. He (and reviewer Antone Brooks) actually grew up in St. George, UT, which was immediately downwind of the NTS, so his insights are very personal and more credible than many other “experts”.
